Following crown removal with the wamkey, the Physics Forceps were utilized to extract this lower molar. As the roots were divergent and to demonstrate sectioning, this lower molar was sectioned and the roots were removed as two bicuspids.

A bone graft is necessary to restore the foundation of the dental arch where the bone is too sparse. Surgical removal explained: from incision to raising the mucoperiosteal flap, then guttering of bone to expose the tooth. Following exposure of the tooth, sectioning of tooth is performed(odentectomy). After this removal of crown portion of the tooth is done and this is followed by removal of the root section with the help of cryer elevators. After removal, toileting the socket is done to remove follicular epithelium. Closure of the wound site is done with 3 ‘0’ black silk sutures.

There are two possible complications after wisdom tooth surgery: dry socket and paresthesia.
Dr. Teresa Lozano, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with Baptist Health South Florida, explains paresthesia is numbness in the lower jaw. She advises following patients closely and monitoring them for recovery of the nerve.
The specialist affirms a week after having the procedure, a patient can notice numbness. It’s one of the risks of having wisdom teeth removal.
