Bone Grafting After Tooth Extraction in Boise ID | Boise Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center - https://boiseoralsurgery.com

A bone graft is necessary to restore the foundation of the dental arch where the bone is too sparse. During a bone grafting procedure, an oral surgeon can place a bone graft material to restore the size and shape of the jaw. Over time, the bone graft material integrates with the existing bone, which restores the facial structure and creates a secure foundation to place dental implants. A bone graft is a versatile treatment option and can restore a single tooth socket, a large area of bone where multiple teeth are missing, or even increase the size of the bone between the mouth and the sinus cavities. Depending on your needs, the bone grafting material used can be from your body or a tissue bank. Once the bone grafting material has integrated with existing bone, the jaw bone is ready for dental implant placement.

Sometimes the only way to prevent further oral problems is by removing the affected tooth or teeth. Severe dental decay, gum disease, facial injuries, or other conditions that can cause damage are common reasons for tooth extraction, which is a common procedure in our office at Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Tooth extractions by a skilled oral surgeon allow the problem teeth to be removed and eliminate any signs of infection.

Dr. Bobst is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and has always been active in continuing education. His goal has been to establish a practice that maintains the highest standards of excellence in patient care. Dr. Bobst's desire was always to be a healthcare provider; he received a BA in biology from California State University. From there, he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, CA and spent 5 years focusing on specialty training in oral & maxillofacial surgery.

Maxillary Dentigerous Cyst Surgery - Wisdom Tooth Removal
00:02:30
Dr Rockson Samuel
7 Views · 3 years ago

The patient is a 26-year-old year male from Porto Novo in Tamil Nadu, India. He began noticing the development of pain and swelling in his left upper jaw a few months ago. This has now increased to the point where there is severe pain and discomfort in that region. There is also a feeling of heaviness in that region.
Examination at a local dental clinic for diagnosis of his problem
He had presented at a local dental clinic where imaging studies had been obtained. This revealed the presence of an impacted molar in the left maxillary sinus. Suspecting this to be a dentigerous cyst, the dentist had immediately referred the patient to our hospital for management. The patient gives a history of undergoing extraction of his left upper second molar a few months ago.

Treatments ranging from simple extractions to complicated craniofacial surgeries are routinely performed at our hospital. Facial trauma surgery and jaw reconstruction surgery are specialty surgeries performed here.
Facial cosmetic surgery and cosmetic rhinoplasty are also addressed here at our hospital. Eyelid surgery to address epicanthal folds are also performed in our hospital. We are a superspecialty center for closed rhinoplasty as open rhinoplasty can leave behind residual scars.

Treatment of periodontal disease - Scaling and root planing - Tartar ©
00:03:21
Dr Rockson Samuel
7 Views · 3 years ago

Scaling and root planing are different forms of treatment for periodontitis periodontitis (or pyorrhea or gum disease).

In this 3D animation from Clínica Médico Dental Pardiñas (http://j.mp/cPardinas) we talk about the diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis (pyorrhea) by performing scaling and root planing.

It shows how plaque and tartar will accumulate around the teeth and how it is removed using different instruments, thus returning the gum to a healthy state.
Here we can see the process of probing, one of the elements used to diagnose periodontal disease. The greater the measure, the greater is the existing periodontal pocket.
The progressive accumulation of plaque and tartar causes that the resorption of the bone that supports the teeth. Gums will show signs of inflammation and bleeding, among others. Once the accumulated plaque mineralizes, it becomes tartar, which can no longer be removed with regular brushing.
To remove tartar, curettes and ultrasound devices that are introduced below the gum are used. Polishing tools can also be used to polish the tooth surface. The gingiva in the absence of plaque and tartar will no longer be inflamed and will return to a healthy state.
This can originate retractions.
In a side view we can see the same process of scaling and root planing and the posterior healing of the gums.

Do I need to quit smoking after tooth extraction? | Prevent Dry Socket - Dr. Rizwana Tarannum

7 Views · 3 years ago

Dr.Rizwana Tarannum | Appointment booking number: 95911-11177
Consultant General Dental Surgeon |Jas Dental JP Nagar 6th Phase, J. P. Nagar, Bengaluru
Yes , you need to. When the tooth is removed there will be a blood clot which is formed in the extraction site and when you do the smoking the blood clot will be displaced an will lead to infection and the cigarette smoking contains a lot of chemical like the hydrogen peroxide, carbon monoxide and ammonia. This leads to delayed healing and inflammation, infection and dry socket. Dry socket is a condition which causes disintegration of the blood clot from the extraction site of the tooth. The cigarette smoke will expel the blood clot for the extraction site and can leaf to delayed healing and indirectly it will result in severe pain and bad breath and it is very important you should not do the smoking after the removal of the tooth for a better healing so avoid smoking atleast for 5 to 7 days.

Wisdom Tooth Removal - surgical
00:00:44
Dr Rockson Samuel
7 Views · 3 years ago

Wisdom teeth are also called third molars and it is not unusual for these teeth to become "stuck", wedged in or what we call impacted. They are the last teeth to come through into the mouth and often there is not enough room for them. Most people have four wisdom teeth but up to 10% of the population missing one or more. When wisdom teeth become impacted they cause a number of problems.

PIEZO ASSISTED WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL (THIRD MOLAR SURGERY) | Wisdom Teeth | PATIENT TESTIMONIAL

What Are Wisdom Teeth? :

The third molars, known simply as wisdom teeth, erupt between the ages of 17 and 21 years old. The average person’s mouth will comfortably hold 28 of the 32 teeth we are predisposed to have. Since the wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt, there is often little room left to accommodate their size and anatomy.
During your check-up, Dr. Rajat Sachdeva M.D.S. may take x-ray to diagnose the need for their removal. This x-ray gives the dentist a clear view of the area around the wisdom teeth, to determine the type of extraction necessary for each tooth. If you require surgery to remove your wisdom teeth, it is helpful to prepare yourself before your appointment for a speedy recovery.
Why Are Wisdom Teeth Removed? :

They are erupting in to an abnormal position, such as tilted, sideways or twisted.
They are trapped below the gum line due to lack of space.
An infection has developed from trapped food, plaque and bacteria, known as pericoronitis.
The way the patients teeth bite together has changed, causing misalignment of the jaws.
The erupted wisdom tooth lacks proper hygiene, because it is hard to reach, resulting in tooth decay.
How Are Wisdom Teeth Removed? (Painless Way) :

After any elected methods of sedation have started to take effect, the Dr. Rajat Sachdeva will start the procedure by:

Numbing the tooth and tissues in the area of the mouth, where the wisdom teeth are located, with local anesthetic. At Rajat Sachdeva Dental we Use Ultra Thin Needles And Instrument From Septodent France For Painless Anaesthesia.
Any tissue and bone that is covering the tooth will be removed with the HITECH surgical instruments.
Extraction instruments are used to loosen the tooth from any connective tissue in the tooth’s socket.
Once the tooth is loose enough, the Dr. #Rajatsachdeva removes it with dental forceps.
It may be necessary for the dentist to use stitches to close the tissue to aide in the healing process. Follow all of the instructions after surgery for a full recovery.

Tooth extraction and Socket preservation - How is it done?

How is a socket preservation surgery done?

In this video of Clínica Médico Dental Pardiñas (http://j.mp/cPardinas) a real live surgery of a socket preservation is shown. An atraumatic dental extraction was performed followed by a bone graft, membrane and collagen plug placement in the socket. This technique is done to prevent bone resorption after a dental extraction. This is usually done for a later implant placement in the area.
