A video depicting the complete surgical extraction of the lower left canine tooth in a mature cat. The tooth had suffered a fracture leading to septic pulp necrosis, chronic apical periodontitis and inflammatory root resorption. Root canal treatment was not an option and every contaminated scrap of the root needed to be removed.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction in Boise ID: Jevon | Boise Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center - https://boiseoralsurgery.com

Many people who develop a full set of adult teeth may be unaware that they have an additional set of molars developing in the far back of their mouth. These can remain under the surface of the gum that can cause significant problems. This third set of molars is better known as the wisdom teeth. If you do not receive regular examinations, you may not know that you have wisdom teeth until they become a problem, and you experience pain or infection. Wisdom teeth extraction is one of the most common treatments performed by oral surgeons and is received by patients regularly.

Dr. Bobst is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and has always been active in continuing education. His goal has been to establish a practice that maintains the highest standards of excellence in patient care. Dr. Bobst's desire was always to be a healthcare provider; he received a BA in biology from California State University. From there, he earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, CA and spent 5 years focusing on specialty training in oral & maxillofacial surgery.

"My name is Jevon. I'm from Middleton, Idaho. Well after a routine dentist visit my dentist suggested I have my wisdom teeth removed. I was a little bit nervous. I had never obviously had my wisdom teeth removed before so I was a little bit nervous about going under and having someone work on my mouth. Well right away when I come in the office as, since I was a little bit nervous, the staff was able to make me feel comfortable and they were very friendly. And Dr. Bobst was even joking with me a little bit when I first came in. The procedure; I felt no pain, have no memory of even really being here other than when I first came here so it was pretty easy; that part of it. After a week or so I was able to eat anything I wanted to. And almost all the soreness was gone. I would highly recommend Dr. Bobst and his staff to anybody that’s needing any type of oral surgery or especially for wisdom teeth removal. I can't recommend them high enough."

Horizontally impacted wisdom tooth removal http://www.sdcdentist.com An oral and maxillofacial surgeon or your dentist can remove (extract) a wisdom tooth. The procedure often can be done in the dentist's or surgeon's office. You may have the surgery in the hospital, especially if you are having all your wisdom teeth pulled at one time or if you are at high risk for complications.
If you have any infections, surgery will usually be delayed until the infection has cleared up. Your doctor or dentist may have you take antibiotics to help heal the infection.
Before removing a wisdom tooth, your dentist will give you a local anesthetic to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. A general anesthetic may be used, especially if several or all of your wisdom teeth will be removed at the same time. A general anesthetic prevents pain in the whole body and will cause you to sleep through the procedure. Your dentist will probably recommend that you don't eat or drink after midnight on the night before surgery so that you are prepared for the anesthetic.
To remove the wisdom tooth, your dentist will open up the gum tissue over the tooth and take out any bone that is covering the tooth. He or she will separate the tissue connecting the tooth to the bone and then remove the tooth. Sometimes the dentist will cut the tooth into smaller pieces to make it easier to remove.
After the tooth is removed, you may need stitches. Some stitches dissolve over time and some have to be removed after a few days. Your dentist will tell you whether your stitches need to be removed. A folded cotton gauze pad placed over the wound will help stop the bleeding.

Surgical Removal of Tongue Cancer Animation
00:00:46
Dr Rockson Samuel
23 Views · 4 years ago

https://www.FauquierENT.net - Animation showing how tongue cancer is removed via wedge excision and then closed primarily. Small to medium sized tongue cancer is amenable to this type of surgical approach where up to 1/3 of the tongue can be removed without affecting speech and swallow as long as nerve function remains intact and the tongue tip is left alone. If the tongue tip is removed, far less tongue can be removed before it will start to affect speech. Why? Because the tongue tip is used to help articulate words. How much can be removed before it starts to affect speech depends on the tongue length and shape. Swallow is typically unaffected. If more than 1/3 of the tongue is removed, some degree of reconstruction will be required involving taking skin and muscle from the forearm to fill the space lost to the tongue resection (procedure is called radial forearm free flap).

The most common type of tongue cancer is squamous cell carcinoma.
