I came to Utah Surgical Arts to have my wisdom teeth extracted. When I first heard that I'd have to get this procedure done, I was very nervous, but the day of the procedure came, and Dr. Harris and his staff were so kind and really made me feel comfortable.

What could be worse than a root canal? A lot of things! The root canal is probably one of the most misunderstood dental procedures performed today, and is thought to be incredibly painful with lasting side effects. Not true! A root canal is an endodontic procedure used to repair and save an abscessed or decayed tooth. During this interactive root canal, you will isolate the tooth and clean the tooth's root canal with a special file. After irrigating the area to clean it thoroughly, you will fill the cavity with a rubber compound known as gutta-percha and seal it off. When finished, you will learn how to avoid tooth decay and dental disease in the future. That doesn't sound bad, does it? Scrub in and let's get started!
How long it takes for the wound to heal after tooth extraction? Let’s dig deeper into this argument to figure out the essential information about the tooth extraction healing process and how to speed it up with proper aftercare.

You will heal after tooth extraction in approximately 10 to 15 days. In this period, any discomfort will gradually disappear, and you will feel again excellent.
But as we just mentioned above, to complete the inner healing, the body needs a bit more than 15 days (8 weeks overall), so it is always a good idea to keep treating the extraction area carefully for a more extended period than 15 days.

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in your mouth, which usually happens when you are between 16 and 23 years of age. When there is insufficient gum space for normal eruption, these teeth become "impacted" -- that is, they remain below the gum line, or not quite clear of it, because they cannot fully emerge.
Impacted wisdom teeth can cause infection of adjacent gum tissue, dental decay of adjacent teeth, crowding of front teeth or in rare cases, cysts.
It is well documented that removal of wisdom teeth in young adults (below the age of 25) is associated with less after-operation pain and swelling than in older adults. Therefore, if it is determined that your wisdom teeth are likely to cause problems, your dentist will usually recommend that you have them removed earlier rather than later.
Will I be awake or asleep during the procedure?
This will always be your choice, although recommendations will be made during your consultation appointment and your options will be assessed.

Hi, welcome to Boundless Dentistry, where we make learning dentistry easy and in a fun way.
Teeth extraction is one of the commonest procedures that are performed in dentistry. There are many reasons for which extraction of a tooth may seem a viable option. There are different standard techniques that have been formulated for extraction of each tooth e.g incisors, canines, premolars, and molars in both maxilla and mandible.

More and more people are getting dental implants to replace missing teeth. They're a long-term solution that is imbedded in your jawbone, just like your natural teeth. They even go your natural teeth one better, since they can't develop cavities. Plus, unlike fixed bridges or removable dentures, dental implants will not affect neighboring healthy teeth or lead to bone loss in the jaw. If properly cared for, dental implants can last a lifetime.
The oral and maxillofacial surgeons at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry have the specialized education and training in the complexities of the bone, skin, muscles and nerves involved, to ensure you get the best possible results.
When a tooth can no longer be saved, an extraction can be made to preserve the well-being of the patient's oral health. In this case, severe tooth decay beneath a pre-existing crown has exhausted the tooth beyond saving, making that a tooth a candidate for extraction. Patients with good recovery of healthy bone and gum can consider an implant to replace the extracted tooth.
